Julia began dancing at the age of three. A native of the Chicago suburbs, Julia has numerous years of dance training and choreography experience. She grew up competing in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, ballet and hip hop in the Chicago area and nationally. During that time, Julia also performed at and attended Summer Intensives with The Milwaukee Ballet & Ballet Met, Columbus, Ohio. In high school, she was a four year varsity dance team member and two year team captain who choreographed during that time.
Julia holds her B.A. in Dance Performance as well as Speech & Hearing Science from the University of Iowa. She also attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign to complete her Doctorate in Audiology. While attending Iowa, Julia performed numerous times with the Iowa Dance Department, including Iowa’s Dance Gala. Prior to moving to St. Louis, Julia was a choreographer and performing member of Outlet Dance Company in suburban Chicago.
Julia brings many years of experience as she has taught various styles of dance to students of all ages. She began teaching while in college at Iowa and also spent five years with Universal Dance Association as an instructor. While in Champaign, IL, Julia was a faculty member with Art in Motion Dance Studio. Upon returning to the Chicago area, Julia taught at The Center for Dance. She has been an Illinois High School Association (IHSA) dance official since 2009 and also judges for Illinois Drill Team Association (IDTA.) In addition to her dance career, Julia is an Audiologist at SluCare Physician Group. Julia loves being part of the Charmette family and truly enjoys sharing her passion of dance with others!
